Green Juice
Green juice is made in a juicer, NOT a vitamix/blender. The idea is that the fiber is being removed, so the juice is like a blood transfusion of nutrients for your body. This may not be an option for some of you, if you don’t have a juicer, or have access to freshly made green juice from local shops.
Nutrition experts believe that Green Juice is not optional, even if you are in perfect health. We should all be drinking 2 glasses a day, and up to 1-2 quarts if you are in a “healing crisis.” Green juice provides your body with all the micronutrients it needs, without making it work at all. Fiber is great in our diet, but removing it for your morning juice means that your body gets a shot of micronutrients directly into your blood stream. This is ultra healing to your body at a deep cellular level. It reduces inflammation of cells, and boosts your immune system.
Buying a juicer is a big commitment. Good ones start at $200. Fresh-made juices are also available locally at Whole Foods Georgetown, and at Hawthorne Homemade on Macomb Street (or look into what is made in your neighborhood). Making this in a blender does not have the same health benefit, as all the fiber is retained (and it is hard to drink and doesn’t taste great.)
